OTTUMWA, IA (KYOU) – After ushering more than two thousand students through the doors of Ottumwa High School, Principal Mark Hanson is finally ready to say goodbye.
Hanson this week announcing, he’s retiring as principal of the school at the end of June.
“I want kids to feel welcome in our building. I want them to feel wanted. I just want to thank you all for allowing me to be part of your family’s lives. And hopefully it’s been a good experience for you. It certainly has been for me and my family, “said Hanson.
Hanson’s last day is June 30th. Right now he doesn’t know what he’ll do after retirement. He says he might even consider teaching at a nearby college, if he desires to return to education, in the near future.
