Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia dealing with more cases of COVID-19

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia, Iowa is dealing with an increase of COVID-19 cases.

In a statement on its Facebook page and website, it says they have learned 10 new residents testing positive for the coronavirus bringing their total to 14.

Due to privacy regulations, we aren’t able to share more information about the residents.

The statement goes on to say the health and safety of our residents and employees is their top priority. They continue to follow CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health infection control guidelines. This includes separating our positive-testing residents from others and utilizing proper PPE throughout the building. They have been in contact with the Monroe County Health Department and IDPH regarding this development.

The facility says it has been coordinating testing with the county health department. The latest results was the product of testing all of their residents earlier this week

with the help from the health department. Their next step will be to test all employees.

They have notified staff, residents and families to update them on the new information. They have been and will continue to update them on new information.
