Wapello County Expo Attendee tests positive for COVID-19
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Wapello County Extension Council and the Wapello County Expo Board have received information that an adult present at the Wapello County Expo has received a positive COVID-19 test result.
“This week, we received notice that an adult who was present at the Expo on July 12 for the royalty pageant and July 17-18 for the beef events received a confirmed positive COVID-19 test result on or about July 22,” said Craig Leager, the Iowa State University Extension Outreach Regional Director. “The adult reported no COVID-19 symptoms when present at the Expo. This individual consulted their healthcare provider regarding symptoms on or about July 20.”
The adult was not a volunteer and it is unknown as to the degree to which the adult had close contact with program participants, Leager said.
The Wapello County Extension Council and the Wapello Expo Board is contacting everyone who had preregistered for the Expo on one or more of these dates and had provided contact information.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the council and the board are providing notice so people who attended the expo can monitor their health and consult current CDC/public health guidance. We encourage you to contact public health or your healthcare provider with questions,” Leager said.
The Expo Board thoroughly cleaned and/or disinfected the Expo location before and after each event, including all potentially impacted areas.
Expo attendees who have questions about possible exposure may contact public health, their healthcare provider, Wapello Expo Board President, Larry Sample, or Wapello County Extension Council Chairperson, Elaine Heisdorffer.
