508 COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths reported in Iowa Monday

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The state reported 508 more COVID-19 cases and 6 more deaths in Iowa over the last 24 hours.

As of 10:30 a.m. on October 19, the state’s data is showing a total of 107,570 COVID-19 cases and 1,534 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.

A total of 2,876 tests were reported to have been conducted over the last 24 hours, making the total number of tests conducted 901,746 since the pandemic began. The positivity rate during that 24-hour reporting period was 17.7%.

There are currently a total of 480 patients hospitalized with the virus, a net increase of five. 63 were admitted in the last 24 hours. Of those patients, 113 are in the ICU, which was a net increase of five, and 45 are on ventilators, which was unchanged.

correction: An earlier version of this article stated that 6,488 tests were reported during the 24-hour period, and a total of 886,557 tests. This was data from the morning of October 16. The actual numbers, 2,876 tests in the last 24 hours and 901,746 total, are now reflected in the article.
