Test Iowa Clinic opens in Ottumwa
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) -You can now go to the Test Iowa clinic in Ottumwa located off of north Jefferson Street.
The site is funded by the Wapello County Board of Supervisors and the C.A.R.E.S Act.
The clinic has two nurses who will administer tests from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The nurses will also help with contact tracing.
Tim Richmond with Wapello County Emergency Management says the site seeks to alleviate some of the stress from other medical facilities around the area, as well as providing free, no-string-attached tests for anyone who needs it.
“So if you go to a regular clinic, you have to be an established patient, you had to pay your co-pay, it’s still paid through insurance and you have to be symptomatic. None of that applies here. There are no copays, no symptoms required. The only requirement we have is that you register at Test Iowa.com, have you ID, and QR code to get here, that’s it.”
The Test Iowa Clinic will be open for 13 weeks, until the end of 2020. The Wapello County Board of Supervisors will then re-evaluate to see if they need to keep it open longer.
