OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Iowa Democratic Senate Candidate Theresa Greenfield visited Ottumwa Tuesday morning, touring Hotel Ottumwa and the businesses inside: the Tom Tom Tap bar, the second floor ballroom, and Second Street Cafe. She was led around by Hotel Ottumwa co-owner Tim Schwartz.

Greenfield then sat down with Schwartz to discuss local issues facing small business owners in the area. She says, as a former small business owner, “main streets and storefronts are near and dear to my heart. And I’ve worked a lot of my career with these kinds of small businesses. I also know having traveled the state, having grown up outside of a small town, I watched the devastation of the farm crisis and I watched schools close and grocery stores close and the decline of our local areas. So I’ve been focused on how we rebuild our small towns.”

KYOU also reached out to Republican Incubent Senator Joni Ernst’s campaign, who say “Amid COVID-19, I’ve been proud to have worked across the aisle with Democrats and Republicans to quickly pass bipartisan legislation, which provided billions in support for more than 60,000 Iowa small businesses in need of relief.”
