FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - Today, students at Maharishi School, donating a large amount of canned and pre-packaged food to the Little Free Pantry project in Fairfield.

There are six little pantries around Fairfield. They offer free food with no commitment or paperwork involved.

Deborah Pogel first set up the project last year, and she says this project is "just helping other people and they don’t have to know you and you don’t have to know them.”

This was part of Maharishi students' Act of Kindness competition, where four teams competed to raise the most money.

Deborah says “It feels good to be able to help other people, and this is a very concrete and structured way.”

The school also decided to continue donating food to the pantries to continue to help the hungry in Fairfield.
