OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) -If the weather cooperates, the road construction project along Highway 63 South will be over next month.

An Iowa Department of Transportation spokesperson says as long as the weather is good, the project should wrap up by December 4th.

The work has been going on since late March. Crews are grading and paving a new four-lane divided highway from River Road/Wapello County Road J-12 to U.S. 34.

The existing bridge over a drainage ditch will be replaced with a new bridge, and the existing bridge over a bike trail will be replaced with a reinforced box culvert.

The current connection of Rabbit Run Road to U.S. 63 will be relocated to the south approximately 1,500 feet.

Traffic has been detoured during construction using Vine Street and Madison Avenue.
