JBS and Plumrose Invest $600,000 into Ottumwa Family YMCA for Child Care

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - JBS and Plumrose USA announced Friday they will contribute $600,000 into the Ottumwa Family YMCA. The investment will fund a Y-M-C-A daycare expansion and facility with 50 additional slots for children.
There has been a dip in child care providers even before the pandemic, and Interim CEO of the Ottumwa YMCA Garrett Ross says the Y has struggled to employ enough providers.
”At best right now it’s difficult. But with this kind of support from JBS this is going to allow us to improve the efficiency of our facility, and modernizing it. And not only that but increasing the opportunity of availability in our community as well.”
Garrett Ross is confident this investment will help attract child care providers when the daycare expansion is complete in December 2021.
