ALBIA, Iowa (KYOU) -An Ottumwa Police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested in Albia, Iowa.

According to Albia police, officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of Benton Avenue East on Thursday, November 19th just after 1 p.m for a domestic assault call.

When they got there, they found the female victim who told them she has been assaulted by Jordan Woodward. Police say the two had been in a relationship and share a child.

Following interviews, police say the victim told them Woodward had choked her. Police say Woodward admitted to them he did put his hands around the victim’s neck.

Woodward is now charged with domestic abuse assault.

A no-contact order has been requested.

Ottumwa’s Police Chief says Woodward is now on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into his action.
