Black Friday shoppers step out in Oskaloosa to support small businesses

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (KYOU) -

Oskaloosa businesses are open and ready for Black Friday shoppers to come in and support their businesses as Oskaloosa kicks off their holiday season with their festive décor and eager shoppers ready to check off their list this Christmas.

Shoppers told KYOU why they chose to shop local this season: “We just thought it would be a fun opportunity to spend time with family and go shop together.”

Another shared: “Especially during the holiday season and during Corona it might be their only source of income. As my mom is an owner of a small business she really enjoys getting to sell things and it’s just really fun.”

Oskaloosa has had a big push this season to support these local business as the pandemic rages on with the state reporting 37 new deaths on Thanksgiving.

Many businesses across the nation are having to make the tough call to shut down again as more mandates are being put into place leaving small businesses wondering what the future holds.
