Indian Hills Community College holds a Giving Tuesday Fundraiser
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - After Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a different kind of day called “Giving Tuesday”, a generosity movement where people give back to their communities.
Indian Hills Community College is using Giving Tuesday to raise money for their bell tower.
The bells have been silent for months, and the college is raising $14,000 for a new computerized system to ring the bells.
The bells have rung for Indian Hills since the college purchased the campus from Ottumwa Heights College in 1981.
The old system had not been performing well, and Indian Hills’ Foundation and Development Director Blaire Siems wants a way to have the bells ring out across the area again.
”We’re hoping that we can get our community together, maybe retirees, employees, fellow alumni to see the need, to remember the bells, a little bit of nostalgia, and give a little bit to that fundraiser.”.
The campaign will end on January 25th of next year, or if the goal is met before then.
You can find a link to the fundraiser, as well as more information, on Indian Hills’ Facebook page.
