OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - A Wapello County Board of Supervisors member, Jerry Parker, floated the idea of a county-wide mask mandate at Tuesday’s meeting to help stop what could be an upcoming spike of COVID-19 cases in Wapello County.

”If the masks seem to be something they say...if 80% of the people wore a mask, we would correct this in a month or something...if that’s even remotely true, we should be wearing a mask.”

Nothing has been set in stone or even discussed by the board. However, Parker says they’ll have to see how cases are faring in the future.

All county buildings are currently closed to walk-in traffic indefinitely.
