OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Ottumwa schools have seen a decline in students and staff testing positive and in quarantine. Their latest numbers show only ONE staff and 101 students in quarantine. Compared to their numbers around Thanksgiving, these numbers have dropped off. Superintendent Mike McGrory says he’s been pleasantly surprised.

“One of the things that was really a whole issue for most districts is your number of staff that were absent. We’ve seen a huge decline in that as well. Right now - that could change 3 days from now - things are good.”

Ottumwa students’ last day of school for 2020 is December 22nd, and they’ll return on January 4th.
