OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) -O’Hara Hardware is a family-owned and operated business that was founded by Martin and Florence O’hara in 1940.

Besides buying hardware, families make it a tradition to visit here around Christmas time in Ottumwa to see the reindeer.

Connie Cruz who is the head of the department says they are happy to carry on this tradition for the community.

“The kids really love them a lot and O’Hara is happy to be doing this for the kids.”

Of course, kids aren’t the only ones that can enjoy a visit, one adult stopped by as well to express their excitement.

“I think it’s cool, I love it. I think it’s an awesome Christmas thing. I think people should come down here to see it.”

Since the week of Thanksgiving a mama deer, daddy buck, and baby deer have been patiently waiting for your arrival. Cruz says there is only one rule when it comes to visiting.

“Just that you don’t put your hands in there because you don’t know what they’re going to do just to be safe.”

if you haven’t seen them yet make sure you go by Christmas eve because that is their last day.
