Fairfield city leaders considering where to build a new fire station
FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - Fairfield’s City Council is looking for a location to build a new fire station.
The reason being is to expand the size of its current facility and better serve its community.
The department is in need of more truck bays because right now crews are struggling to get the trucks in and out due to lack of space in the garages.
Fairfield’s City Administrator Aaron Kooiker says they’re currently working through ways on how to pay for the project.
“Some of the options are through a straight obligation bond, there’s a possibility of working through a T.I.F. area in the area where we’d use tax incremental financing for it there’s also a possibility we could just borrow from ourselves and do it too.”
The City Council narrowed the decision down to two different sites and say that this project could take one to two years to complete.
