Free fitness for people over the age of 50
FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - Joe Weaver, who is the owner and decade-long fitness coach of Fit Fifty Plus, is offering free zoom workout sessions for people over the age of 60 and shares his reasoning why.
“I am focusing on people over 60 because I’m almost 70 myself and we have unique needs and goals that are different than the fitness goals of people that are younger.”
Weaver says he himself didn’t get adjusted into the fitness lifestyle until his late fifties because he finally learned how to enjoy it.
“I think enjoying the experience is the most important thing you can do to establish a fitness routine because if you feel like it’s a chore every time you do, the older you get, then there’s less patience you’ll have for something you don’t enjoy.”
He says aside from his workout classes throughout the week, the free sessions are only twice a month on Saturdays and shares why doing those free sessions is important.
“A lot of us have the impression that in order for exercise to be effective it has to be torturous and I’ve discovered that it doesn’t need to be a strain, you can make it really enjoyable and still get a lot of benefits and you can really transform your physiology.”
