OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - More wintry weather is expected across the area on Sunday, with some wet snow possible.

The most likely area to see accumulation will be north of the Iowa-Missouri border, with 1 to 3 inches possible. The heaviest amounts will be found toward Oskaloosa and Washington. South of the border, some freezing rain could mix in with the snow, leading to lesser amounts but still causing possible travel headaches.

Precipitation begins in the west toward 8 or 9 a.m., spreading northeast across the area over the following few hours. Most of it should wrap up by 5 to 6 p.m. this evening. With warmer temperatures today in the 30s, this may limit the overall impact to area roadways. However, be cautious if traveling this afternoon and give yourself a little extra time to get where you’re going.

For the rest of the week, milder air settles in, with mostly 40s for highs. A little bit of rain, or rain and snow, returns for next weekend.
