The warmer weather has more people eager to spend more time outside. Oskaloosa Community Gardens is trying to bring people together through gardening.

The organization will no longer hold their kick-off event due to the pandemic, but tells KYOU there are still spaces available at all three of their community garden spots.

Horticulturist Suzette Striegel says its a great way to get out and enjoy some sunshine saying: “Not everybody has a good space to grow vegetables in. These are good spaces to grow vegetables in. There is three spread out within the town. So, depending on where you live you may be able to find one that works better for you.”

For more information about how to secure your spot you can contact the garden coordinators for information about the spots below: Hope Gardens (New Hope)- Blaine Vos 641-676-1602; OCSD Glendale Gardens- Ron Van Heuvelen 641-660-4329;  and William Penn Gardens- Marsha Riordan 641-673-1045
