Ottumwa Convention & Visitor’s Bureau changing name to ‘Meet Ottumwa’
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Ottumwa Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, the group in charge of trying to bring more people into southeast Iowa, is undergoing a rebranding.
It is no longer the Ottumwa Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. The group is now known as ‘Meet Ottumwa’. Andy Wartenberg, the executive director of Meet Ottumwa, says the new name comes as an effort to show that Ottumwa is a destination that businesses and other groups should be looking at to hold events, instead of an area that is still striving to become a destination.
The group’s tagline is also being changed from “Let Us Surprise You” to “Where Iowa Meets the World”. This comes as a nod to the diverse community that southeast Iowa has to offer.
“A tagline is something, not only that you’re proud of, but is something your customers want. We felt that “Where Iowa Meets the World” reflects something they really want. They want a diverse experience when they come to a gathering,” said Wartenberg.
Meet Ottumwa will be holding a rebranding rollout reception to introduce its new look. That event is being held on April 22 at the Bridge View Center from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Andy Wartenburg is reminding Ottumwans that they can also help bring people into the area and get paid for it through the Ottumwa All-Stars Program. To sign up for that program and reception rollout, contact Meet Ottumwa at (641) 684-4303.
