Eldon, Iowa man found guilty of burglary, robbery and assault
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - An Eldon, Iowa faces up to 80 years in prison after being found guilty of several charges related to a home invasion in Ottumwa from April of last year.
According to the Wapello County Attorney, Joseph Bloom was found guilty of burglary, robbery, assault while participating in a public offense causing serious injury and willful injury causing serious injury.
The attorney said Bloom along with accomplices broke into a home, beat the homeowner severely, and stole items from the home. The attorney says the beating was so severe the victim’s skull was broken into two pieces.
The attorney said Bloom was also charged with harassment of witnesses in the case. That case is still pending.
Bloom faces 25 years in prison for burglary (first degree) 25 years for robbery (first degree) 15 years for assault while participating in a public offense causing serious injury and 15 years for willful injury causing serious injury.
