Wapello County Board of Supervisors to hold public hearing for budget amendment
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - A public hearing for an amendment to the Wapello County budget is planned for May 4th.
The amendment deals with COVID-19 expenses and CARES act funding.
Board Chair Jerry Parker says these public hearings have to be held each time an amendment is presented.
It’s why the Board announces their budget six months early.
”In a year like this, even though we don’t end until June 30th, if something were to happen and you do this in June, it could hold it up until after July 1st. And you can’t amend a closed budget.”
The County Auditor says at least one amendment to the budget is common with each proposed fiscal budget
