Ottumwa man arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) -On April 18th at approximately 4:09 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department was contacted by a local parent, who discovered inappropriate communications on their 13-year-old daughter’s telephone.
Police were able to identify the person responsible for sending those inappropriate messages and videos.
On Monday, April 26th, officers arrested 29-year-old David Lira of Ottumwa.
He was charged with Violation of the Sex Offender Registry Requirements.
Police obtained a search warrant for Lira’s cell phone and as a result, additional evidence was identified.
On Friday, April 30th officers arrested Lira on the following additional charges relating to this investigation:
· Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Possession of Child Pornography – 11 Counts
· Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – 2 Counts
· Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Materials to a Minor – 1 Count
· Sex Offender Registry Violation 2nd Offense– 14 Counts
