NEW SHARON, Iowa (KYOU) - A teacher in Mahaska County is facing several charges after an investigation revealed he made inappropriate contact with children between 2004 and 2015.

44-year-old, Christopher Robin Sampson, of New Sharon has been arrested and charged with two counts of lascivious acts with a child, two counts of indecent contact with a child, and four counts of lascivious conduct with a minor. Sampson was a teacher in the North Mahaska Community School District. In a letter obtained by KYOU, the district announced to parents that Sampson had submitted his resignation, but said he did not give a reason for resigning.

In a release, the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office said the charges stem from an April investigation. An adult female filed a complaint, claiming she was sexually abused by Sampson while she was a minor from 2004 until 2015. The woman said the incidents took place at a home in rural Mahaska County. Since the launch of the investigation, another two women have come forward with similar allegations against Sampson.

Sampson was arrested at 4:15 PM Tuesday. He was taken to Mahaska County Jail. He makes his first court appearance Wednesday.
