OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) -The Ottumwa Historic Preservation Commission is marking Historic Preservation Month with guided cemetery tours on Friday, May 14th.

Tours will depart every 15 minutes from 6 pm to 9 pm in the historic Ottumwa Cemetery.

These luminary-lit guided tours will include stops at the gravesites of notable and fascinating Ottumwans past.

Parking is available at 1302 and 1950 N Court.

Tickets for this event are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Guests are encouraged to reserve their tour early by visiting the Commission website at www.ottumwa.us/preservation.

“We’ve worked hard to select some special stops along the tour,” Commission Chairperson Dennis Willhoit said. “These stories from our local past will make for an exciting and memorable evening.”

Willhoit also added that the guided cemetery tours would be a perfect complement to the Upstairs Downtown event on Friday, May 14th, and Saturday, May 15th.
