OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - An upcoming public hearing will give the public a chance to voice comments about a Wapello County food program.

The program has provided food to around 300 seniors in Wapello County twice a month since the start of the pandemic.

Now, the Wapello County Board of Supervisors say to get a reimbursement from a grant, they’re required to hold a public hearing.

The food is delivered by the Food Bank of Iowa.

Board Chair Jerry Parker says they’ve worked with several local non profits, but the Food Bank of Iowa has turned out the best for them.

“As they are able to get cheaper food at different times, they’re able to put more in the box. So the box is not always the same. It varies in size, it varies in content, but it’s all useable.”

The meeting is next Tuesday, May 25th, at 9:30 am held on the third floor of the Wapello County Courthouse.
