ELDON, Iowa (KYOU) - According to the Court Affidavit, the minor, who will remain unnamed, was riding her bike home in Eldon Iowa along Fourth and KD street back in October of 2018 with her sibling and noticed she was being followed.

That’s when she said a stranger pulled up to her and asked her if she wanted a ride and told her to get in.

She screamed, told her sibling to run and they took off.

Fast forward to May 27, 2021, that stranger who is identified as Matthew Reynolds has been sentenced to two years in prison for the enticement of a minor.

Jason Day, who is the father of the child, shared how his day was in court and says he and his daughter were relieved with the outcome.

“I’m not a vengeful person, I’m kind of bitter but it was great to watch him have to stand up to be handcuffed and lead out of the courtroom.”

He says although he’s happy Reynolds heard how he and his daughter felt in the courtroom it is still a sad situation and advises other parents to inform their kids on what to do for situations like this.

“It could happen anywhere, a town of 100 or a town of 10,000. Just educate your kids, you never know. If a kid thinks something is wrong, say something first and sort it out later. Just keep educating your kids on what to do.”

Reynolds is also facing a charge of indecent exposure in Mahaska County, Iowa.
