FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - Flags were seen wrapping around every corner of the park.

Many residents were enjoying the sight of the flags and shared their excitement for the upcoming Holiday.

”I’m looking forward to having a barbeque by the lake with a lot of friends and family, then watching the fireworks after that.”

Another resident says due to obligations he plans to celebrate a day earlier.

“Currently I’m taking my courses, but maybe Sunday night I’ll try to celebrate.”

One local man shares that although he isn’t from the United States, he has great admiration for the Country.

“To me as a European, it’s certainly something to see it, but it’s actually one of the things I like about the Americans. They are very proud of their country and they do take time to remember those who have tried to make it the country it is today.”

If given the chance to stop by Fairfield’s Central Square, be sure to visit the William Coop Statue for a nice photo opportunity.
