City of Ottumwa announces work session for revitalizing human rights commission
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - A Human Rights Commission in the City of Ottumwa is coming closer to a reality...
The City Council will hold a work session to discuss its foundation.
The City has discussed revitalizing a Human Rights Commission for over a year after local protests against the police killing of George Floyd.
But until Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, the only update from the City has been that they’re still working on it.
The discussion will be guided by Monica Stone, the Deputy Director out of the Iowa Department of Human Rights.
The session will be held on June 29th at 5:30 pm.
