DES MOINES COUNTY, Iowa (KYOU) - A Burlington, Iowa woman is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with the use of a Dangerous Weapon.

According to the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to 11598 Woody Lane in rural West Burlington for a reported stabbing around 3:30 pm on June 3rd.

Deputies were told the suspect along with the victim had left in a vehicle and was driving to Great River Medical Center.

West Burlington Police Department was able to locate and stop this vehicle.

Once deputies arrived, they found 33-year-old Adam Smith of Burlington with a cut to his stomach.

As deputies investigated, they determined Smith and 23-year-old Cynthia Dawn Acton, also of Burlington had gotten into a heated argument, at which time Smith was cut.

Acton was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with the use of a Dangerous Weapon.
