OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Ottumwa Arts Council and Ottumwa Streetscape teamed up to provide the installation of sculptures in front of the Canteen alley.

All four of the sculptures were done by artist Daniel Miller, who teaches sculpture at the University of Iowa.

Fred Zesiger, who is the executive director of Main Street Ottumwa, says each one is a representation of the city.

“From the railroad to the coal palace with our history, obviously agriculture and John Deere and JBS with meatpacking. Across the street, we have a couple of pieces on the diversity of the world as well as diversity in Ottumwa and then just how we’re laid out along the river.”

Zesiger says the sculptures have LED lighting and light up around 9 pm.

Two more installations are expected to come next month.
