ELDON, Iowa (KYOU) - Linn, Monroe, and Wapello county all faced rising waters and strong storms and because of this, all locations are under disaster proclamations.

Governor Reynolds put this into effect on Monday.

What this means is that individuals whose property was affected by the storm can apply for grants to help aid them as they rebuild.

The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant program will provide grants of up to five thousand dollars for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level for a family of three.

Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and temporary housing expenses

Eldon homeowner, Icel Fisk, is happy about the help and says the money is more than enough for her but maybe not for others.

“Sounds good, our basement got washed out just a little bit but it was an old basement anyway, but my son lost a water heater and a furnace in his basement. He said it was knee-deep.”
