Fiesta Days in Fairfield is back this year in July
FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - A total of 27 businesses in Fairfield will be participating in Fiesta Days this month.
Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce CEO, Darien Sloat, says this event is intended as a reopening of the economy.
“Covid shut everything down for quite a while so this is just a moment in time where we want to let everyone in the area know we are open for business.”
Fiesta Days are dated back as early as the 1960′s.
Sloat says locals have shared their memories with him about the event.
“I talked to people who say they remember coming to town on a Saturday morning for what essentially is our sidewalk sales.”
Local business owner Kara Waugh is one resident that remembers attending as a kid.
“Fiesta Days were a huge thing when I was a kid growing up here in Fairfield. It was the be-all event of the summer.”
Waugh says she hopes this event will interest people in and out of the area.
“With covid last year and us doing everything we can to survive as small businesses, we wanted to do an event that showcased the town and all we have to offer and draw people from in and out of town to shop here.”
Fiesta Days will be a two-day event on July 30th and 31st from 9 am to 6 pm.
