CENTERVILLE, Iowa (KYOU) - The Centerville Big Reds had their big send-off Monday morning.

The team is heading to the South Central Conference to compete in the 2A State Baseball Tournament in Carroll, Iowa.

Rich Parker, who is the Centerville School’s Activities Director, was in attendance to send off the team and shares how proud he is of them.

“Just awfully proud of the kids and the way they work, and the coaching staff. The way our community rallies around this kind of stuff is unbelievable.”

Family, friends, and staff gathered along Highway 2 in Centerville to cheer the team on as they were sent off to compete in the upcoming tournament.

Parker says this is the team’s fourth time going to state.

” I don’t know if a lot of people know but this is our 4th trip to state in five years. These seniors have gone there four times. They won it once and they know what it takes to get it. I don’t think there are a lot of words that I can give them that will motivate them more than they already are. "
