Ottumwa Bride Gives Back to Humane Society
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - When it comes to weddings you may think about gifts from family and friends. Tiffany Buehneman thinks about giving back to others who do not have as much as they need.
Heartland Humane Society is a cause close to Buehneman’s heart, so she decided to use her bridal shower as a way to give donations to the animals. Instead of new towels, kitchen appliances and silverware she received dog and cat food, toys and bowls.
“I didn’t see the need to get anything for ourselves, my fiancé and I have pretty much everything we need” said Buehneman. Looking around there was no need for new appliances for a home. Everyone was on board for the idea to help the animals at Heartland.
Rachael Holm says, “donations are hard to come by sometimes, but it can be hard to get the right kind of donations.” When the staff gets low on food they cannot provide for the animals. Wet dog food is used to aid the staff when giving animals medicine; when the dog food runs out it becomes more difficult to give the medication to the animals. Buehneman’s donations from her bridal shower helped out the staff at Heartland and made everyone happy.
Giving back is a way to help others who may not have as much as you. Buehneman thinks it is important to “give to something great” and help others who do not have as much as you do.
