Kiwanis Kids day event returns
FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - The 53rd annual Kiwanis Kids day in Fairfield, Iowa returns Saturday, September 18th.
In this event, you can expect pancakes to be served and a sharing kindness-themed parade that goes through town.
Parade Coordinator, John Reeves, says there will be free activities for children to enjoy.
“Pony rides, bouncy houses, a clown, we’ll have a pedal pull, barrel train, face painting, I think a dunk tank, and a DJ,” says Reeves.
Kiwanis is a global organization made up of volunteers dedicated to improving their surrounding area.
Reeves says funds received from the pancake sales will be put back into the community.
“This year we are contributing $12,000 towards a new childcare center here in Fairfield,” he says.
Johanna Aracena, who is a local resident, says her family will look forward to attending this event.
“I think they’re definitely going to enjoy going out, meeting new friends, and trying new activities, so we’re definitely looking forward to that,” says Aracena.
Deanna Liux, who is also a local resident says children deserve to be celebrated in this community.
“I think the kids are really the springboard of our community because they are growing and maturing and they bring so much vibrancy and energy,” says Liux.
Pancakes will be served from 6 am to 1 pm and the parade starts at 10 am.
