Absentee ballots available Wednesday in Wapello County for city primary

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Absentee ballots will be available starting Wednesday, September 15th in Wapello County for next month’s city primary.

The primary election will be held on October 5th. The primary will determine the final candidates for mayor and city council in the November election.

A total of nine citizens filed paperwork to run for city council and three citizens have filed to run for mayor. Ballots can be cast at the auditor’s office on the second floor of the Wapello County Courthouse through October 4th.

If you want a ballot mailed to you, you have until 5 pm on September 20th to have the written absentee ballot request form to the auditor’s office. Absentee ballots must be received in the auditor’s office by 8 pm on Election Day.

You may hand deliver your ballot directly to the auditor’s office on Election Day, but must be turned in by 8 pm. For further information, contact the Wapello County Auditor’s Office 641-683-0020 between 8 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
