FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - Voters said no to a bond referendum on Tuesday. The district was asking for money to build a new 4th-8th Grade facility.

According to the Jefferson County Auditor’s office, a total of 1,413 people voted. 721 said no (51.03%) and 692 (48.97%) said yes.

According to the district, this bond would have been used to not only fund a new facility to host 4th-8th graders, as well as updates at the existing middle school site and HVAC renovations at the High School.

KYOU has reached out to the superintendent to see what the next step will be for the project.
