OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Heartland Humane Society is using the Oktoberfest parade Saturday as a way of showing off its dogs for adoption.

To do this, they are looking for people willing to walk with the dogs in the parade.

Humane Society Board Member Belinda Smith-Cicarella says they hope dog walking will help with dog adoptions. “We want the people to see what precious angels Heartland has and most shelters have and they are just wanting a second chance.”

The parade will kick off at 10 am Saturday. If you want to be a dog walker you can call the Heartland Humane Society to volunteer their number is (641)682-1228 and you can also go to their Facebook page.
