OSKALOOSA, Iowa (KYOU) - One issue Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds addressed earlier this year is child care. Many communities in the state struggle to offer such services.

The Mahaska County YMCA now offers a child care program in its newly built building in Oskaloosa. According to their website, the YMCA has a child care facility for kids ranging from six weeks to 5-years-old. One child care facility worker says, there is a waiting list for children, but the list is not due to an overflow of kids applying.

The reason for the waitlist is due to low staff.

If you’re interested in working at the child care facility or want more information about the center you can go to the Mahaska YMCA website for more information.
