FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - Paul Gandy, who currently serves as councilman for the second ward in Fairfield has served three and a half years in total. He says his purpose for running again is to continue the work started in his first term like reassembling a new ambulance service. When asked what his focus would be if re-elected he says economic development for the city.

“Going forward housing is a critical issue. Affordable, plentiful housing for our citizens and for those who choose to move to Fairfield. Doing those things can encourage economic development in Fairfield. A very important issue from my point of view. That includes things like making sure there’s adequate childcare for those that may choose to move to Fairfield, “ says Gandy.

KYOU reached out to Mayor Connie Boyer as well as Councilman Douglas Flournoy. Both candidates are running unopposed.

Early voting begins Wednesday, October 13. Fairfield residents can cast their votes at the Jefferson County Courthouse from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM until November 1.
