OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Family Crisis Center put on its annual Wine and Brew Stroll downtown in Ottumwa. The purpose of the event is to bring awareness to domestic violence in the area and advocate safety services. Executive Director Lorraine Uehling-Techel says the timing of the event was intentional. “October is Domestic Violence Awareness month so we thought we would wrap these two things together,“ she says.

The event kicked off at Hotel Ottumwa and consisted of several different wineries, breweries, cideries, and food samples in various locations downtown.

One local shared that she was happy to attend such a nice event.

“I’m excited, I think it’s going to be a really nice evening. It’s beautiful outside and it feels awesome to support a great event too,” she says.

All funds collected will go to support the Family Crisis Center and victims of domestic violence.
