OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The nice day outside benefited some kids at a local elementary school.

The kids got to hike the hills of the Ottumwa Cemetery, which is located across the street from their school. The hike was a reward for reaching the school’s goal for their positive behavior intervention.

Principal Jody Williams says, “We are celebrating today by hiking the hills. The whole school is out here enjoying the beautiful weather and beautiful scenery.”

The students exceeded the goal of roughly 3,000 by reaching over 5,000 bulldog bucks.

Kids at Horace Mann are now looking ahead to a new goal and reward.
