OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Soon, parents will have the opportunity to purchase presents for their children at the Bridge Church’s Christmas Store. The three locations will be opening up on December 4.

The reason behind the Christmas Store according to Angie Allgood is to provide families who need help finding gifts during this holiday season. “So, we just think it provides hope and maybe lifts a weight for families that feel that financial strain during this season.”

Allgood says the toys, parents will find are all new and not used. Everything is store-bought by volunteers at the church. She says they just want the kids to have a good Christmas experience. “It’s not just used toys it’s brand-new toys, you know, brand-new socks and underwear and books and that sort of thing.”

While families come to the store, Allgood says the volunteers love talking to and encouraging them during the hard times while they are shopping. “We want to see families healthy and restored, but we also want to see the community come together to do that as well.”

The three locations are Ottumwa, Fairfield, and Centerville. People can go shop at the Ottumwa location inside the Bridge View Center from 8 a.m. to noon. Fairfield is currently relocating to the Middle School and the Centerville location is at the Greenroom; both locations are open from 10 a.m. to noon.
