Fairfield man charged in ‘Russian-roulette’ death
FAIRFIELD, Iowa (KYOU) - On November 7, 2021, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a home in Fairfield, Iowa on a report that an individual in the home had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The reporting party, 21-year-old Finnegan Edward Malloy, reported that 19-year-old Caleb Heisel had shot himself in the head while playing “Russian Roulette.” Heisel was deceased upon the arrival of law enforcement and medical personnel, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.
Police say, a revolver-style firearm with one spent cartridge was located at the scene, believed to belong to Malloy. Due to the circumstances surrounding the death, the body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
Malloy was arrested on November 24 by Fairfield Police, and is charged in Jefferson County with one count of Assisting Suicide, and one count of Aiding and Abetting Reckless Use of a Firearm, each a Class C felony.
