KIRKSVILLE, Missouri (KYOU) - Update! Kirksville, Missouri police say through their investigation, they determined 45-year-old Kevin Whittom of Kirksville was in the State of Washington.

Police issued an arrest warrant for him charging him with assault and armed criminal action following a November 27th shooting incident where a 22-year-old was shot.

Kirksville Police contacted law enforcement in Washington and on December 8, Whittom was arrested in Clark County, Washington on the Adair County, Missouri charges.

Whittom is currently in custody in the State of Washington, awaiting extradition back to Missouri.

Original story: Kirksville Police are looking for a man in connection with a weekend shooting. Police say on Saturday, November 27, officers were called to the area of Centennial and Elizabeth Streets in reference to a report of shots fired.

When officers got there and began investigating, they learned about a man who went to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police say they learned about an incident between Kevin Whittom, 45 of Kirksville, and a 22-year-old man also from Kirksville.

Police say they were told Whittom fired a handgun at the 22-year-old.

The victim went to the hospital where he was treated and released.

On Monday, November 29, an arrest warrant was issued for Whittom for assault and armed criminal action. Police are looking for him. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous and ask the public to not approach him if seen.

Kevin Whittom is a white, male, 45-years-old, approximately 5′11″ tall, 200 lbs, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Kevin Whittom has a half sleeve tattoo depicting a wolf on his right arm, a tattoo of a dragon on his chest, and a tattoo on the left shoulder of an eagle with a rebel flag. Kevin Whittom may be driving a black Ford Explorer Sport (2 door) with Missouri license LC8M5V.
