OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - A Wapello County man gets probation following his arrest on six counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Police say through their investigation they found Jacob Mason had possessed fifteen child pornography files, created a collage of child pornographic images, and had photos of children he knew through family and friends who were clothed and under the age of 15.
In October, Mason pled open meaning he pled guilty to all criminal charges without any plea agreement in place. This provides the court with the discretion to sentence the defendant as they believe justice requires.
On Thursday, December 2 the state argued for 12 years, but the defense asked for two years probation which the judge granted. But he also gave Mason a suspended sentence which means if he violates his probation, he could face prison time.
