15-year-old charged in Cedar Rapids shooting that injured two juveniles

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A 15-year-old faces charges after a Memorial Day weekend shooting that left one juvenile with life-threatening injuries and another injured in Cedar Rapids.

The juvenile is charged with reckless use of a firearm causing serious injury, reckless use of a firearm causing bodily injury, and use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime.

Cedar Rapids police responded to a shooting early in the morning May 31 in the 1900 block of 4th Avenue SE. Police say the juvenile allegedly fired a bullet that passed through one victim and hit the other.

Two juveniles were wounded. One suffered life-threatening injuries. Cedar Rapids police did not release the victims’ ages. Police say all parties involved were either related or knew each other.

The juvenile was taken to the Linn County Detention Center.
